THE BEE'S KNEES: ANIMATION EXCELLENCE IN SEN EDUCATION

Animation has long been dismissed as mere children’s entertainment, but for Martyn and his team at King Bee Animation Studiosit’s a powerful tool for communication, education, and inclusion. Their recent collaboration with Radlett Lodge, a National Autistic Society school, demonstrates how creative partnerships can create meaningful experiences for SEN pupils. 

FROM CANADA TO THE CLASSROOM: MEET CREEDANCE

Moving from Toronto, Canada to the UK in August 2024 was a big step, but one I was excited for—especially because I knew I wanted to continue working in special education. Back home, I worked with SEN students as a ski instructor, supporting young people with physical disabilities and communication challengesNow, I’m working with children aged 11-15, many of whom are autistic and have additional physical needs.

BEXLEY HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES AND FOOD PROGRAMME: A LIFELINE FOR SEND FAMILIES

Launched in 2020 following campaigner Marcus Rashford’s initiative to address food poverty among school children during holidays, the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme has become an essential resource for families of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across Bexley. This government-funded initiative ensures that children from eligible families can access enriching activities and nutritious meals during school holidays, when many families face additional financial pressure.
